Summary
Collagen is widely used in dressings and scaffolds for its biocompatibility and low antigenicity, and blending it with polycaprolactone improves its mechanical stability. The difficulty has been the solvent: collagen/PCL blends were traditionally spun from hexafluoroisopropanol or trifluoroethanol, both aggressive. This study replaces them with a green solvent and uses design of experiments to navigate the process window systematically rather than by trial and error - a methodical approach to a combination that is otherwise awkward to spin.
