Summary
Olive leaves are a by-product of the olive harvest, yet the extract obtained from them is sold as a supplement and an over-the-counter remedy. This in vitro study asks whether extract from the Tuscan cultivar Olivastra seggianese protects endothelial cells against oxidative stress caused by reactive oxygen species - the mechanism implicated in vascular disease. Turning a regional agricultural residue into a documented bioactive material links local biowaste valorisation with cardiovascular research.
