Wire drum collector designed to produce very thin, easy-to-peel nanofiber mats.

MINIMAL CONTACT POINTS FOR EASY FIBER RELEASE

The wire construction minimizes the contact points between fibers and drum. With few contact points you can easily peel your nanofiber mats, even at very low thickness where a solid drum would make the delicate fibers stick and tear.

Made of high-resistance hollow aluminum, weight and moment of inertia are reduced to the minimum, allowing high rotation speeds without triggering dangerous vibrations — so you also get aligned fibers along the wire direction.

When should I use a wire drum instead of a solid drum?

Choose the wire drum when your nanofiber mat is very thin and delicate: the reduced contact area lets you peel it off intact. A solid aluminum drum is better for thicker mats and continuous surfaces.

Does the wire drum align the fibers?

Yes — at high rotation speed the fibers align along the wires, and the gaps between wires enhance alignment compared with a full surface.
